Large Alternative Sites:

Patreon

One of the main competitors to OnlyFans is Patreon, which is a platform that allows creators in a variety of industries to monetize their content and build a community of loyal supporters. Patreon is often seen as more established and reputable than OnlyFans, and it has a larger user base and a more diverse range of content available. However, Patreon also has stricter guidelines for content and conduct, and it may be more difficult for creators to get approved for the platform.

Over the coming years, many experts in the content creation space believe Patreon will open its doors to adult content creators. Until then it’s best to use Patreon purely for a personal conversation with your most loyal fans. In fact, it can be a great upsell tool within your Onlyfans marketing funnel.

Fansly

Founded and released in 2021, Fansly is a free social media platform that tailors toward adult content creators. With a few extra features to separate the two, Fansly is a carbon copy of Onlyfans in terms of the UI layout and overall functionality. Obviously inspired by Onlyfans, Fansly isn’t an exact copycat, offering a unique referral program for subscribers. This feature is an amazing marketing tool and one we hope Onlyfans implements sooner rather than later. Other notable features include a wider variety of payment processors & a simple verification process that doesn’t leave you frustrated or confused.

Overall Fansly is a solid alternative site to Onlyfans, with many creators now having an active account. We don’t expect it to overtake Onlyfans anytime soon tho, with the Fansly platform currently needing to play catch up in terms of brand recognition and notoriety.

SubscribeStar

Another competitor is SubscribeStar, which is a subscription-based platform that has been described as a more “free speech” alternative to Patreon. SubscribeStar has fewer restrictions on content and allows creators to share a wider range of material, including adult content. However, the platform has faced criticism for hosting controversial and extremist content, and it may not be as well-known or reputable as other platforms.

Although not as well known we do expect SubscribeStart to be around for at least a few more years, investing major time and energy on the platform is simply not as lucrative as Onlyfans.

FanCentro

OnlyFans also has its own in-house competitor, FanCentro, which is a subscription-based platform specifically for adult content creators. Like OnlyFans, FanCentro allows creators to monetize their content and build a community of supporters. One of the main differences between the two platforms is the fees charged to creators: OnlyFans takes a 20% cut of creator earnings, while FanCentro takes a smaller percentage.

Lower payment fees do sound tempting, and this is a smart way to get creators across the platform. However, Onlyfan’s name reputation is too strong at this current time. When a girl creates an Onlyfans account, the majority of people know what this means. FanCentro has zero brands & would require Onlyfans to place major resources into growing its name.

Smaller Alternative Sites

Ko-fi

Ko-fi is a pltform that is a little diffrent to Onlyfans. Instead of monthly subscriptions this platform only offers one-time payments in the form of tips. With a friendly user interface, Ko-fi is simple and easy to use. With much lower fees than Onlyfans, taking 3% instead of 30%! Despite the small payment fees the Ko-fi platform is relatively unknown and has zero user base, unlike other alternatives.

In summary, there are pros and cons to each of these subscription-based platforms, and the best fit will depend on your specific needs and goals as a creator. OnlyFans is known for its large user base and wide range of content, but it also has strict guidelines and a high fee for creators.

Patreon is a more reputable and established platform. It can be more difficult to get approved and it has stricter content guidelines tho. SubscribeStar allows for a wider range of content, but it has faced criticism for hosting controversial material.

FanCentro is specifically for adult content creators & the fact it’s owned by Onlyfans is interesting. However, it simply doesn’t have a large brand name yet and will most likely require Onlyfans to ban adult content creators, forcing them to FanCentro. While not totally out of the realm of possibility, it most likely won’t happen. In late 2021, Onlyfans banned adult creators for a few days before the backlash forced them to withdraw the change. This is a good indicator that they won’t forcefully remove adult content creators any time soon.

Some of the smaller platforms we mentioned such as AVN Stars have the potential to grow into a legit competitor to Onlyfans. However, that will take some time and most likely require Onlyfans to ban adult content creators as mentioned above.

Ultimately, all these alternative sites have unique features but none can compete with Onlyfans at this time. We recommend keeping an eye on FanCentro simply as it’s owned by Onlyfans, but in terms of adult content creation, other platforms are simply too restrictive for adult creators.
